Hi there,

Welcome to the official launch of the Adapt Freelancer newsletter! 🎉

I'm planning to start sharing updates about Adapt Freelancer, my Adapt freelancing and consultancy company, as well as Adapt Unlimited, my Adapt Authoring Tool hosting service every month or so.

This is quite a big update that I've been saving for awhile. Future posts will hopefully be much shorter.

Adapt Unlimited

Adapt Unlimited launched in January (it feels so long ago already!). It was created to be the easiest way for e-learning teams to get set up with open source Adapt.

What is the difference between Open source and other versions of Adapt?

The launch went fairly smoothly and today, just over two months after launching, several e-learning teams from across healthcare, higher education, the private sector and the third sector have become paying customers.

From these customers, several mentioned that they had been interested in using Adapt for a while, but they had been put off by its command-line installation which requires technical knowledge that they were either too busy to learn, or just totally intimidated by.

Another customer had managed to install the Adapt Authoring Tool to their office computer but wasn't aware of the benefits of having it installed on a server. With Adapt Unlimited, they could work on their courses both at home and in the office, without needing to import and export the course they were working on every time they switched between each location. It also meant that colleagues in the London office, who were formerly using Storyline, could be set up and trained in Adapt remotely. All of the client's e-learning is now built-in Adapt so that it is not only responsive but also shares a consistent look and feel, due to the custom theme they had already commissioned from Adapt Freelancer.

Adapt Unlimited has a 14-day free trial, so you can try it yourself by signing up here.

Pricing starts from £65/$95 per month for a whole team of up to 20 people, no per author fees at all. The Plus tier includes personalised training and support offered by myself over Google Hangouts.

Adapt Plugins - Season 2

If you've been following me for a while you may know that I started a Youtube series last summer called Adapt Plugins. In each episode, I look at an Adapt community plugin and suggest ways that it could incorporate into your e-learning projects.

From next week, I'll be restarting this series and releasing brand new episodes every two weeks. The first episode of season two will feature a branching extension that I've created for a client project that I'm currently working on.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel if you want to catch every episode, I'll also be sharing popular episodes through my newsletter too.

Adapt Freelancer website refresh

I'm just finishing up a big refresh to my Adapt Freelancer website. The main focus of this refresh was to more accurately position myself to the two types of customers that I usually work with.

My two types of clients are e-learning teams that are looking for an Adapt expert to provide services such as theme development, plugin development or consultancy; As well companies or organisations which are looking for a partner to create bespoke e-learning content and who can resource all the elements required for this.

Both of these customers are unique with different expectations and understandings of the e-learning content industry. I want to ensure that Adapt Freelancer is positioned to attract and serve both of these types of customers.

Summary

This quarter has been my busiest one so far. I've launched a new product, Adapt Unlimited, as well as working with several new clients on some really interesting projects on freelance projects.

Since launching Adapt Freelancer my core mission statement has to been to provide more choice within the Adapt Learning ecosystem and to help make Adapt the right choice for more organisations. Whether it's by sharing advice on plugins through my Youtube channel; Or by offering professional services such as consultancy, theme or plugin development or bespoke e-learning creation to my clients.

With the launch of Adapt Unlimited, I hope that I can help a brand new audience of e-learning teams to start creating content using Adapt.

Thanks again for your support! ❤

Simon
